About

Oak Restaurant & Bar sits in a residential condo complex in Noord, away from the tourist strip but easy enough to find once you know the address. It's casual and low-key — families show up, groups linger — and the kitchen does seafood well. The 4.6 food rating backs that up, and the ranking at #20 out of 161 in Noord isn't bad for a spot that doesn't chase the high-rise crowd. The atmosphere rating matches the food score, which tells you the room works without trying too hard. Service keeps pace, and the value rating at 4.3 suggests the mid-range pricing lands where most people expect it. The Travelers Choice badge for 2025 reflects consistent reviews across a solid sample size. If you're staying in Noord and want seafood that feels less like a production and more like a neighborhood place that happens to do it right, Oak fits. Reservations aren't required, but calling ahead on a weekend makes sense.

Around Aruba Tours

From $122 per person

Around Aruba Tours runs UTV excursions out of Noord, and the #1 ranking among outdoor activities in the area reflects thousands of trips without drama. This is a four-hour route through Arikok and the natural sites on the east side—caves, the Natural Bridge ruins, Alto Vista Chapel—straightforward land touring without the add-ons some operators bundle in. The price sits at $100, which puts it between the budget half-day trips and the seven-hour safaris that include natural pool swims and cruise port coordination. What you're paying for is reliable organization and the UTV format itself, which handles the dirt roads better than most rental cars and feels more hands-on than riding in a van. The 4.9 rating across 7,600-plus reviews suggests the operation runs consistently. If you want the longer day with natural pool access, ABC Tours offers that at a higher tier. If you just want the backcountry without committing to a full-day schedule, this is the middle option that works.

Jolly Pirates Cruises

From $108 per person

Jolly Pirates runs a four-hour catamaran cruise out of Hadicurari, the fishing pier on the northwest coast near the high-rise hotels. The boat is ranked #7 among Oranjestad water sports for a reason: multiple snorkel stops, rope swings off the stern, and a crew that keeps the vibe relaxed without being forced. You'll hit at least two reef sites, and the water is shallow enough that kids can snorkel comfortably—this is the lowest-intensity water activity in the category. Morning departures include a full meal; afternoon trips are drinks only, so check the schedule when you book. At $90, it's positioned between De Palm Tours' beach club package with slides and banana boats and the pricier land-based jeep safaris. If you want open water over a beach club, and sailing over driving through Arikok, this is the call. Book direct through their site. Cash tip for the crew is standard.

Octopus Sailing Charters

Octopus Sailing Charters runs three-hour trips off the Palm-Eagle Beach coast, and the 4.7 rating across thousands of reviews suggests they keep things consistent. The Travelers Choice award backs that up. It's a mid-intensity outing — you're on a catamaran, not in a kayak — so it works for most ages and fitness levels. The boat makes stops for snorkeling and usually swings by a shipwreck or two depending on conditions. Crew handles the sailing; you handle the sunscreen. The $75 price point sits in the middle of the water sports market here, which tracks for a half-day charter with gear included. Groups tend to be mixed, so expect other travelers. Book directly through their site. Morning departures are cooler and the water's usually calmer before noon, though afternoon light is better for photos if that matters to you.

Recent Pulse

What travelers are saying.

Steady

Low confidence

Travelers say Oak Restaurant delivers consistently excellent steaks and seafood in a relaxed neighborhood setting, with standout dishes like the spicy shrimp and clams appetizer, coconut snapper, and peppercorn steak earning repeat visits. Reservations book 2–3 months out, and the mandatory 15% service charge can complicate tipping, though most reviewers praise attentive servers like Diana and Jesus. A handful of recent reports flag inconsistent steak doneness and rushed or inattentive service—especially during peak evening seating—but the majority return for the reliable quality and welcoming atmosphere.

Standing out

Spicy shrimp and clams appetizer stands out for bold, flavorful sauce
9 mentions
“The spicy shrimp polenta dish was so spicy but so flavorful—a hurts so good moment we loved”
Steaks and lamb chops cooked to requested doneness and served tender
22 mentions
“Peppercorn steak literally melted in your mouth and was cooked medium rare as ordered”
Servers Diana, Jesus, and owner Ricardo create personal, attentive service
14 mentions
“Diana was our server for all four visits—magnetic personality and always in her Boston Scally cap”
Coconut snapper and grouper dishes arrive fresh and well-prepared
11 mentions
“Coconut snapper was the best I've ever had, perfectly grilled with excellent flavor”
Reservations require 2–3 months advance booking due to popularity
17 mentions
“Waiting list is four months out—book early or you won't get in during peak season”

Watch-outs

Mandatory 15% service charge included on bill regardless of service quality
4 mentions
“Service charge plus gratuity is too much—no incentive to do more than minimum when 15% is automatic”
Recent reports of overcooked or undercooked steaks and fish inconsistency
7 mentions
“$84 ribeye ordered medium rare came raw and had to be sent back twice”
Hostess described as stressed and unwelcoming during busy service windows
3 mentions
“We were met with a stressed out, impolite, complaining hostess on arrival”

Tips from travelers

Reserve 2–3 months ahead—same-day walk-ins rarely succeed during high season
Ask for the spicy shrimp and clams appetizer and creamy mushroom soup if available
Clarify whether you're tipping on top of the mandatory 15% service charge
Request outdoor patio seating for a quieter, more relaxed atmosphere

Maybe skip if: If you prefer transparent pricing without mandatory service charges or need flexibility for last-minute dining plans, Oak's advance booking requirement and automatic gratuity may frustrate you.

Azar Open Fire Cuisine

Azar sits on L.G. Smith Boulevard in Noord, tucked into the stretch of high-end dining that runs through the Palm Beach hotel zone. It's a serious steakhouse — #4 out of 161 restaurants in Noord — and the ratings reflect it: 4.9 for food, 4.9 for service, 4.7 for value even at the top price tier. The 2025 Travelers Choice award came from over 2,000 reviews that are remarkably consistent. The kitchen cooks over open fire, and the focus stays narrow: beef done right, plus a short list of international plates. The bar gets as much attention as the grill — cocktails are made tableside with enough craft that people mention it specifically. The atmosphere is upscale without tipping into stuffy, though this isn't a place for kids. Reservations matter here. The dining room fills, and walk-ins don't always work. If you want steak on Aruba and you care about execution, this is the address.

Wacky Wahoo's

Wacky Wahoo's sits along the main road in Noord, and the name tells you what you're getting into — this is casual seafood, nothing fussy. It ranks #13 out of 161 restaurants in Noord and picked up a Travelers' Choice award in 2025, which lines up with the 4.7 food rating and over 3,200 reviews. The menu leans Caribbean and seafood, and the mid-tier pricing means you're not spending Barefoot or Flying Fishbone money. The upside is you can walk in without a reservation, order something fried or grilled, and leave without drama. The 3.8 atmosphere rating is honest — it's a casual spot, not a date-night setup. Service sits at 4.5, which is solid but not flawless, and a few reports mention slow turns during peak hours. If you want reliable seafood in Noord without the planning or the upscale bill, this works.

Ocean Z Restaurant

Ocean Z sits at the Bucuti resort on Eagle Beach in Noord, and while it's technically open to non-guests, reservations are mandatory — this isn't a walk-in spot. The #2 restaurant ranking in Noord and a Best of the Best award for 2025 both track with the numbers: 4.9s across food, atmosphere, and service, with nearly 2,000 reviews holding that line. The menu leans seafood with international and fusion touches, and the price tier reflects it — this is a four-dollar-sign dinner. What stands out is the consistency; when value still clears 4.8 at this price point, the kitchen and front-of-house are doing something right. The setting is upscale without being stiff, and the beachfront location helps. It's not a casual family spot — no kids' menu, and the vibe skews couples and special occasions. Book ahead, expect to spend, and plan your evening around it.

Palm Beach

Aruba Marriott Resort & Stellaris Casino

The Aruba Marriott sits on L.G. Smith Boulevard in Palm Beach, right where the high-rise strip meets the sand. It's a full-scale resort with a casino attached, so expect crowds, especially around the pool and lobby bars. The 4.7 cleanliness rating and 4.6 service score suggest the operation runs tight despite the size, and sleep quality holds at 4.5, which matters when you're paying top-tier rates. It ranks #20 out of 26 hotels in the Palm-Eagle Beach zone, so it's middle-of-the-pack for the area — the location and service scores pull it up, the value rating at 4.2 reflects what you're spending. If you want the Marriott reliability and don't mind resort-scale energy, it works. The beach access is the real asset here; Palm Beach is wide and swimmable, and you're walking distance to most of the strip's restaurants and bars.

Palm Beach

Barcelo Aruba - All Inclusive

Barceló Aruba sits on Palm Beach, the high-rise hotel strip on the northwest coast, and it's fully all-inclusive — drinks, meals, non-motorized watersports, the works. The 4.7 location score tells you what you're paying for: direct beach access and walking distance to the casinos, shops, and other resorts that make Palm Beach the busiest stretch of sand on the island. It ranks #5 among Noord hotels with over 12,000 reviews, so you're looking at volume and consistency more than boutique charm. Service and cleanliness both land above 4.3, which matters when you're dealing with buffet lines and pool crowds. Sleep quality and rooms sit at 4.2 and 4.1 — solid but not exceptional. The value subrating is the lowest at 3.9, which tracks for a top-tier all-inclusive on prime real estate. If you want to park yourself on Palm Beach and not think about meal planning or bar tabs, this does the job. Just know you're trading some refinement for convenience and location.

Palm Beach

Hyatt Regency Aruba Resort Spa and Casino

The Hyatt Regency sits on Palm Beach, right in the thick of the high-rise strip. It's earned back-to-back Travelers Choice awards and consistently ranks in the top half of Palm Beach properties — not leading the pack at #14, but comfortably above average with a 4.4 overall rating across more than 7,000 reviews. The location score is the real standout at 4.8, which tracks; you're steps from the beach and surrounded by restaurants and tour operators. The resort runs full-service — spa, casino, multiple pools — so it attracts families and couples who want options without leaving the property. Cleanliness scores high at 4.6, and service hovers at 4.5, suggesting the staff keeps things moving despite the volume. Sleep quality and room ratings sit at 4.4 and 4.3 respectively, which is solid if unremarkable at this price tier. Value scores lowest at 4.0, so expect to pay for the convenience and name. If you want Palm Beach proximity and don't need boutique intimacy, it does the job.
